UNITED STATES MILITARY HISTORY PROJECT

You are a freelance reporter who has been hired by the Military Times to write a comprehensive essay about the U.S. military from 1919 (after World War I) to today. This will be published on November 11th (Veterans Day).
A discussion of major conflicts (e.g., WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan) through this period is required. The Military Times wants an academic article that addresses how the military has been used by the United States over the last 100 years, how armed conflict has affected people, and the innovations and advancements in military weapons and equipment during this time.
Your essay is to be treated as an article that will appear in the Military Times. You should address the areas below.
  • Tell how the U.S. military has been used to influence the world over the last 100 years.
  • Indicate how prolonged armed conflict has impacted citizens, governments, and soldiers.
  • Identify a conflict related to a U.S. military presence in foreign territories.
  • Indicate innovations and technological advances in the military over the last 100 years.
The essay (article) must be at least two pages (double-spaced) in length and will include a title page and references page (title and reference pages do not count toward meeting the minimum page requirement). You must begin with a proper introduction and end with a summative conclusion. Do not write a first-person narrative (e.g., I, me, we, us). You should use three to five academic sources to support your discussion and information (articles in the required or suggested unit resources section in the unit’s study guides are acceptable, and your textbook may be one of these sources). One source must be from the CSU Online Library. Do not use websites or other prohibited sources (e.g., encyclopedias, History.com, Wikipedia). Use professional journal articles, books or higher education (college and university) and government sources.
Adhere to APA Style when constructing this assignment, and make certain to include in-text citations and references for all sources that are used. Please note that no abstract is needed.
