Directions: For this assignment you will select the age group (Infants and Toddlers or School-Age Children) you would like to focus on.
A – Infant and Toddlers: In Chapter 15 re-read 15.3: Overarching Principles of Planning Curriculum for Infants and Toddlers. After re-reading the section address the following questions:
- Which of the Overarching Principles did you connect with the most?
- Why do you feel that you connected with theses principles?
- Are there any that might be more challenging for you to embrace?

B – School-Age Children: In Chapter 16 re-read 16.4: Principles. Also, in Chapter 16 re-read Cultural Competence located in section 16:5 Practice. After re-reading these sections you will write a paper summarizing of what you read to include
- How the Principles discussed are important in school-age care programs.
- How Cultural Competence is important in school-age care programs.
Your paper will be at least one-page. The assignment will be in an essay format. Standard Guideline: Typed, Font Times New Roman or Arial, Size 11/12 Font, double spaced. Check for spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Use APA style when citing references.
Please note your paper is only on one age group Infant and Toddlers or School-Age Children. Not both age groups.

You will view the two TEDx videos below. Both video’s discuss reading aloud to children. After viewing the videos, you will write at least a one-page papersummary of each video. The summary will be in a essay format. In your paper, you will also share your thoughts on the videos topic. You will also answer the following questions:
Were there books that were read to you or you read as a child that you connected with?
What was it about the book or the person who read to you that stands out in your mind?
When you type your paper ensure you do the following:
State the title of the video and the speakers name. The assignment must be typed using MS Word and double-spaced. The font will be Times New Roman or Arial and must be 11 or 12-point font. Please note to receive the full 10 points both videos must be addressed.
