Selecting Modern Presidential Proposalsmodern Pol
1.Select a president. Then write at least a six-eight-page paper on the doctrine that president used. Your research must include at least seven credible sources, Wikipedia, encyclopedias, dictionaries, blogs and other material that does not qualify as reputable academic source work.
1.For the assignment, you are required to write about a specific presidential doctrine. Selecting modern presidential proposalsmodern presidential proposals! I do not want to see any mention of where a president grew up or his early life or his legislative career before he became president. Just write about his doctrine. The following areas MUST be the focus of your doctrine:
1.Truman ― the Soviet Union, Greece and Iran. Concentrate mostly on the SU, because Greece and Iran were sideshows.
2.Eisenhower ― Lebanon and Egypt
3.Kennedy ― Cuba and Vietnam, and you must mention the policy of flexible response and its strong emphasis on counterinsurgency warfare. I’ve even included a piece on flexible response in the zip file on presidential doctrines.
1.Nixon ― Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Iran. All three were critical components of his doctrine, but the last two countries were part of his Twin Pillars Policy, so Google that term.
4.Carter ― Iran and Afghanistan
5.Reagan ― Nicaragua, Angola, Russia and Afghanistan (although Nicaragua and Afghanistan were the two most important, so focus primarily on these).
2.Your paper must address the following:
Fully define a doctrine and identify why the president of your choice announced a doctrine while he was in office.
Describe the diplomatic doctrine the president followed, with reference to specific actions or events that occurred.
Describe the effect that the presidential doctrine has had on regional or global affairs AT THE TIME it was announced during the Cold War.
3.Your assignment must:
Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12)
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
Acknowledge that graphs, tables, drawings and photographs do not count toward the length of the paper; only what you have written as text itself.
