Step 1. Individual Prep-Work
Your group will use information provided on the Zinnia website (Links to an external site.) for this negotiation. Parts of the Zinnia website are password protected and will only be available to the members of the appropriate side (i.e., management has one set of information and the union has a different set). Your instructor will provide your group with the password needed to view your part of the Zinnia website. After receiving your password, access important information for your group at the Zinnia website (Links to an external site.). Make sure to explore the information relevant to your side thoroughly.
Before engaging in intraorganizational bargaining with group members, make sure to read Chapter 7 of the Budd text and Lesson 06 Commentary. After studying the information provided at the Zinnia website (Links to an external site.), including your side’s proprietary information,:
- Determine your own individual target point, resistance points, and starting point for the CBA.
- Identify and rank your most important bargaining issues.
- Consider which bargaining tactics and strategies you would like your group to engage in. For instance, consider whether to engage in mutual gains or distributive bargaining.
- Submit your Individual Prep-Work to the Zinnia Step 1: Individual Prep-Work assignment located in the Lesson 06 Module.
