A research design is virtually a plan that constructs the course of action for a research project. Before selecting a research design, it is fundamental to identify the goals of the study. For instance, Does the study aim to determine the causes or motivations of homicide? All of the choices regarding research design are driven by the research question, and in particular, what is the researcher attempting to investigate?
In the following list below of possible research topics, choose one then state which research design, qualitative or quantitative, would you use to evaluate it including your rationale for your choice:
- The rate of homicides in Los Angeles, New York, or any other metropolitan city
- How robberies affect victims
- The rate of date raping nationwide
- What are most successful preventative approaches for DUI
