What were some of the most compelling topics learned in this course?
I really enjoyed learning the different ways to handling conflict, stress, and the various methods and theory’s that are associated to handling them. Doing the DB from unit 2 was very interesting since you had to research each method or theory to answer questions based off of Al Waysright scenario. I was surprised of how each of these theory’s and methods variated but still serving the same purpose for what motivates individuals. I had heard of Maslow’s Hierarchy, Equity Theory, and Vrooms Expectancy Theory from previous classes. I do and don’t like Vrooms Expectancy theory. Vroom states that “theory emphasizes the needs for organizations to relate rewards directly to performance and to ensure that the rewards provided are those rewards deserved and wanted by the recipients” (PSYNSO, 2018). I do and don’t think that people deserve getting a reward for just doing their job. If people got rewards for doing their job than they expect it. If not given the reward they will slow down or not care.
How did participating in discussions help your understanding of the subject matter?
I like discussion post. I know that most find it daunting but I like to see the variations each student comes up with based on the subject matter. For the most time it can seem discouraging having to respond to other students but I enjoy the feedback I receive. This gives me another perspective and makes me think about the subject matter in another way.
Is anything still unclear that could be clarified?
For the most part I feel that I gained quite a lot of new information. I would like to have seen students’ responses in the live/archive chats. I could not attend the live chat and when reviewing I can’t see the students written text. Most times the text would be written out loud but sometimes it was just responded to and I had no clue as to what was asked.
What approaches could have yielded additional valuable information?
I would have like to have done more work with each methodology and theories used in the unit 2 discussion board. I found them very interesting for some of them I hadn’t had the chance to work on. I feel that I have gain quite a bit of knowledge and have found this class to be very interesting.
