Designing Team and Team Identity

Part 1:

Every aspect of team should be taken care in initial process itself to avoid future complications. Different strategies will be implemented at each stage. Before team forming, the project and the skill set requirement for the project and roles and responsibilities of each individual should be designed. For task designing different companies will implement different strategies. This aspect should be done more carefully, task designing will let us know what type of skills set required to work on the project. The project difficult levels will be assessed during this step. And team selection is continuation of the previous step. Selecting right team members based on skills, experience will make difference in project. Along with technical skills, soft skills that are leadership skills, time management and listening skills, communication skills are equally important.

And after team selection, when work starts the team management aspect will come. This will show a serious impact on project results. Managing team starting from making resources available to conflict management. Different types of situations will come in between work, pressure from peer groups and management and conflicts with other teams in terms of resources. Handling all of them team should work together to achieve the project. Team leader plays critical role in every step of team management. Supporting team and understanding their requirements and not being partial to one particular person will help the team to focus on the major aspects. Diversity in team will improve the project performance, this will help to get innovative ideas in team and generates positiveness among team members.

Part 2:

Team identity, every individual in organization looks for their identity and reorganization. Right performance metrics will recognize the right talented person who contributed to project will be identified. In today’s work culture every task is assigned to teams, very rarely we can see a single contributor to project. So, the competition between different teams will make organization much healthier. To get identity among the other teams, similarly right metrics and team members behavior and performance is matter. Some people are attached to certain team because of multiple reasons, may the project is most liked project or personal reasons. This shouldn’t effect the other team members. If, person became partial towards one particular team, defiantly will effect the other teams performance.
