1st Part : question Relate a hiring experience you have had as a job seeker to the process illustrated in Figure 1-1 on page 8 of your textbook. What could the organization you applied to have done to improve your experience. If you do not have work experience, you may use a student organization example. What do you think are the most important staffing outcomes that all organizations should track in their staffing analytics?I have attached figure on page just in case you need it .
and here is one student response :
The figure on page 8 of the textbook describes the staffing process that can be used by a company. This summer I was hired for the business leadership internship at Geico in Lakeland. While this internship was unable to happen, I thought the hiring process was similar to the one laid out in the text. The company typically has this internship every summer, so the hiring manager was able to relay this to the human resources department. When I applied for this position on line, I stayed in contact with human resources and had two phone interviews with her, which was a preliminary candidate assessment. I then went to the office and took some skill tests, which allowed me to the final interview, which was a panel interview with the hiring managers. After this selecting process, I I was offered the job and had to complete a drug test. When that came back I accepted the job, but unfortunately that was as far as I got in the on boarding process to do COVID-19. However, I think this hiring process was very thorough and was explained very well. The only thing that could have been improved on was the initial postings of what the job description entailed. Some staffing outcomes that companies should be tracking are talent retention, and making sure the company is holding on to key members. They should also keep track of diversity in the workforce and making sure people are hired who adhere with the vision of the company. I would also say job satisfaction is important to track, because there is more talent likely to be attracted to a company where employees needs are heard and met.
2nd part : question : What are the three most important ethical principles that you feel organizations should adhere to in terms of their staffing philosophies and why? Share any experiences you have had with organizations that did not adhere to ethical standards.
and here is another student response :
Ethics are an extremely important part of a company’s success. Without them, your employees may be unhappy and your company could end up in trouble. One ethical principle that companies should adhere to is, diversity. For MGMT 308, we read an article about Publix and how their human resource practices have made their company so successful. One of the main things they talked about was diversity. Having people from all cultures, ages, genders et cetera has helped them become one of the most successful supermarket chains. In any company, diversity can help bring different viewpoints and creativity that they would not have had otherwise. A second ethical principle is accountability. Keeping your employees happy but also on top of their job is necessary for a successful business. If your employees are not holding themselves accountable, the work is not getting done. This ultimately would lead to your company failing. The last ethical principle that is important would be the ability to handle conflict. While HR can help with this, it is important to have staff that are able to get along and not bring every small issue to HR. Not everyone has to be friends, but everyone should be respectful of each other. This would ultimately lead to a healthy work environment, making it more appealing to future employees as well as helping push the company forward.
