Create your presentation using one of the topics below. You will work to research, create information on your topic to the class.
Presentation Topics
Each person must choose a topic from the list below. Please click each topic below to learn more about the requirements for each topic.

- Locate articles on your topic in the library database and research the topic. You may use articles in popular publications such as Time, Newsweek, Popular Psychology, Fortune, etc. Note: Do not use Wikipedia as a source for your research.
Organize
- Prepare an outline of the points you will make in your presentation. Organize the points in the order they will appear in the final presentation.
- For tips on how to prepare a presentation, see the link on Presentation Tips on the Career Essay and Presentation Instructions page or consult the Presentation Strategies link in the chapter on Information Literacy ( Ch. 9 for LaunchPad classes).
- You should have a minimum of 6 slides
Slide Tips
- Create at least 6 slides, but no more than 10 (including the title and references slides).
- create the presentation title slide and an introduction slide that introduces the topic include your full name and current major or future career.
- Avoid typing or placing too much text on each slide. “Less is often more.”
- Include several visual images to support your points. For each image, cite the source of the image directly on the slide it appears, as well as on the References slide. Please enter the following information in 10 point Calibri type in the lower right corner of the slide or Prezi area: 1) your first and last name, and 2) an APA in-text citation for the information on each slide. Place your name and in-text citation in brackets ( [ ] (Optional: you may include one brief video clip to support your topic. If choosing this option, limit the video to 4 minutes or less.
- conclusion (sum up for the class the main points of the presentation with bulleted phrases). The conclusion should be included before the Works Cited slide.
- End with a Work Cited slide that includes all of your sources, including image sources.
The Effects of Sleep Deprivation
- Using articles you find in your research, explain how much sleep on average Americans in general and American college students in particular get each night. Identify the effects sleep deprivation has in general on students’ academic performance.
- You should complete the sleep habits assessment (Links to an external site.) and track your sleep habits for one week. In the presentation, you should reflect on your personal current sleep habits by explaining:
- how many hours of sleep you think you need every night to function at your best. How can you tell?
- on an average, how many hours of sleep did you get on weeknights?
- on average, how many hours of sleep did you get on weekend nights?
- what gets in the way of you consistently getting enough sleep.
- changes you can make to your schedule and/or routines that might improve your sleep habits.
- How do you rank the importance of sleep compared to other activities like studying, working, spending time with family and friends, and other regular activities.
