Informative speaking links straight to Ethical speaking in the sense that both rely heavily on the speaker/presenter to speak and bring up factual statements and not just half-truths. Informative speaking has elements that you should include in most of your speeches because it simply means that you want to reliably inform the audience. Some topics that could be used for things such as informative speaking could include things like informing the audience of racial issues in America, talking about how homelessness is affecting millions of Americans, and even informing people about the COVID deaths and how it is affecting people. When it comes to brainstorming I believe it is a key element for anything and not only just including speaking. Brainstorming is very important as it puts your ideas out there to modify and either improve on or just push to the side, it is a key element to anything that is being written or being spoken. I have definitely tried one of the brainstorming methods from the lecture and that was the big branching off where you followed up on sub-ideas to expand not only brainstorming but also to expand the speech. I tried that particular one mostly as a formality for the teacher but surprisingly it was a tad bit helpful because at the time I had no skills in brainstorming so it was a great first step into properly brainstorming.

1) In your own words, what is informative speaking?
Informative speaking It’s a speech talking about people, places, things, and events that give the audience information about those topics.
2) Can you give examples of topics that would be used for informative speaking?
Some examples that could be used for informative speaking would be topics like, the impact of sleep, the impact of global warming, and the pros and cons of social media.
3) In your own words, why is brainstorming important?
Brainstorming is important because it helps with critical thinking, it also helps decide whether an idea is relevant or makes the most sense.
4) Would you try any of the examples of brainstorming giving in the lesson, why would you try that particular one? Have you tried any and was it helpful? Why was it helpful?
An example of brainstorming I would try it would be to write out the ideas and evaluate them after evaluating to mark them with either a star, question mark, or an “x”. This example of brainstorming seems the most organized to me, to put out all your ideas together and see the ones that make the most sense and to get ideas from the ones I kept.
