Four Distinct Sub Factors Week 8 Alberto Cairo I
I want one paragraph for each part as feedback comment to my classmate work at the discussion. First I’ll but the classmate answer that you need to give them feedback as a response from me in this discussion and you will find an example for a Feedback answer for part 2 in the end of the order so you have the idea about what you should do.
PART 1 ( HERE YOU NEED TO WRITE ONE PARAGRAPH AS FEEDBACK FOR MY CLASSMATE ANSWER)
List each of the three facts that the speaker organizes his lecture around. For each fact, write a paragraph in your own words summarizing that section of the lecture and providing 2 examples or details that you learned from the video in that section.
In Alberto Cairo’s data visualization presentation, he highlights 3 important facts: it is not magic, anybody can learn how to do it, and handle it with care. Data visualization is not magic, it is any kind of graphic representation that is intended to show one what one can not see normally. For example, a graphic which represents the opioid related deaths per 100,000 people visually showcases the impact of opioids with growing bars (deaths) which one would not normally see.
The second fact, anybody can learn how to do it, is expressed through several free tools. Cairo explains that with today’s technology, it is a lot easier to learn the process of data visualization. He uses excel, python and R language, QGIS data mapping and adobe all of which are free to access.
The third and final fact of data visualization is to handle it with care. There is too much room for graphical misinterpretation with inefficient data being presented to the public. Four distinct sub factors contribute to this dissatisfaction or data visualization: literacy, articulacy (understanding speech), numeracy (interpreting those numbers initially and correctly), and graphically (design data and interpret data). A great example is the cone of uncertainty where it is believed that 95% represents area being targeted when in reality only 66% of the cone is actually of chance for being targeted with said hurricane.
What were the most interesting parts of the presentation, in your opinion?
I really enjoyed Cairos principles of data visualization. I espcially thought Principle V to be most interesting because it highlights visualizations as tools (Software). In other words, these tools can build as well as destroy which is why they must be handled with care as well as critical and ethical thinking.
From the Axios stream (see step 2 above), which data visualization was the most compelling to you. Why?
I really enjoyed number 5. Chernoff emoji cartogram data visualization. This one spoke most to me because it took an old idea and adapted it into a modern visualization for people today to better understand the data. It is data visualizations like this that challenge the future of data visualization and how to represent data for people to better interpret and better understand the data in the end.
How can data visualization be used in digital marketing and analytics?
Data visualization can be used in digital marketing and analytics a couple of ways. For one it can be used for ad campaigns to push market trends to consumers so they will purchase a specific brand/product. It can also be used to display/organize data of analytics for stakeholders to visualize it in a better and easier way to understand.
PART 2 ( HERE YOU NEED TO WRITE ONE PARAGRAPH AS FEEDBACK FOR MY CLASSMATE ANSWER)
- List each of the three facts that the speaker organizes his lecture around. For each fact, write a paragraph in your own words summarizing that section of the lecture and providing 2 examples or details that you learned from the video in that section.
- Visualization is not magic.
When we see many numbers on a table, we cannot understand all the numbers. It is because most of us not good with numbers. For example, Data visualization can help people to understand all the number by analyzing them. Also, data visualization use charts and colors for making all the numbers easier to understand and remember it. Moreover, on social media, most of news and Tv accounts use data visualizations for letting people understand the numbers and understand the data easily.
- Anybody can learn how to do it
Graphics can help anybody to be educated on data visualization. For example, when we look into number of metal band map, we can see colors and number. Therefore, graphics can let you interpret and communicate data. Also, it will help you showing the data easily for people.
- Visualization needs to be handled with care
One of the ways of handling visualization is numbers. For instance, when we show the data on map, we need show the numbers. It will help people understand the data. On the other hand, if we look into the states vote, we should put the number on each state. Therefore, it will help us understand the number of republican and liberal.
- What were the most interesting parts of the presentation, in your opinion?
Visitation shows only what is shows and nothing else. Don’t over interpret it. Also, people can understand the data. Also, the data is going to be clear. In meantime, when data shows more than one thing, the percentage of not understand the data will be high. Therefore, people could not understand all the data.
- From the Axios stream (see step 2 above), which data visualization was the most compelling to you. Why?
The data from the Centers for Disease Control. It shows the numbers of deaths in the United state between 1999- 2015. Also, it shows the age and gender. therefore, it interprets and communicate the data for people easily.
- How can data visualization be used in digital marketing and analytics?
Data visualization can be used in stocks. It will interrupt and communicate data very easily. Also, people can understand the numbers and remember it without any difficulty. Also, chats and colors can make the data interested to read and understand. Therefore, data visualization is a good tool for calculating and showing the numbers.
Example for a Feedback answer for part 2:
You’ve written a clear summary of the presentation reflect comprehensive complete. I would like to emphasize that already data visualization has the ability to persuade and educate recipients greater than written data. In addition, the multiplicity of shapes, colors, drawings and schemas in data visualization helps to understand and read data continuously, according to media, which become using data visualization on a daily basis, that their readers follow data visualization more than written.

NOT: FOR THIS ORDER I JUST WANT TO FEEDBACK FOR PART 1 and 2
If you have Questions please feel free to ask.
