Every Well Child Md Nursing Article Response To C

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) (2018b), health promotion is “the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve their health” (para 1). Health education is defined as “any combination of learning experiences designed to help individuals and communities improve their health, by increasing their knowledge or influencing their attitudes” (World Health Organization [WHO], 2018a, para 1) (Falkner 2018). So in other words this is getting the patient to control their own health path through the education you receive. Nurses play a key role in all of this through both education and advocating for your patients. This can be done during discharge instructions, the homecare admission process, follow up office visits or telephone calls. She may go over things like medications, SE’s, expected outcomes. She will also review dietary concerns, restrictions, and labs to be done. She will also provide appropriate resources the patient will need to get the best quality of rehab needed.

The nursing process has 5 stages to it, assessment, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate to provide the proper health education (Nursing Process, Nursing Education and Career). This process starts when the nurse first meets the patient and does not end until the patient has completed the rehab or recovery phase. She will assess what she sees, develope nursing diagnosis, make a care plan and implement it. After the hospitalization is done and the patient has completed the rehab she will evaluate so she can provide the proper education for the patient and the family.

Gun safety is a global issue that hopefully none of you have had a close encounter with. It should now be a standard question during every well child MD visit. This would be the assessment part. A nursing diagnosis would be formed with a plan. The plan could include asking if there are any guns in the home and how are they stored, educating on proper storage of them, keeping them unloaded and locked up at all times. Educate the children to NEVER play with guns that are found and to monitor gun safety at other peoples home that the children may be going into. The parents would go home and implement these plans and a follow up phone call can be made to the family to evaluate the plan and revise it if needed.
