Go to and find the data on real GDP per capita. Then, select a period of 20 years – any 20 years that you want. Get FRED to display the graph of real GDP per capita for those 20 years, and attach a copy of that graph to your post here. There are several ways to do this. You can take a screenshot of it in your browser and attach the screenshot here, you can download the data as an excel spreadsheet and make a graph in excel and attach that graph here, you can download the graph as an image from FRED and attach that image here, etc. Any method is fine.
Besides the graph, your post should also contain commentary answering the following questions:
1. How many recessions occurred during the 20 year period you have selected? (see my for information about recessions and how to identify them on the graph)
2. Compared to other recessions, do you think the one(s) in your 20 year period were bad, or not so bad? Why?
3. Compared to other periods in the time frame covered by FRED data (i.e. from 1947 to the present), do you think the period you have chosen was a good time for the US economy, or a bad time? Why?
