When writers write poems, novels, or short stories, they don’t just do it to entertain their readers. They’re usually attempting to argue some substantial point about human nature or life; so with this in mind, tell what the author is arguing in his poem or short story or novel in the first paragraph and then provide evidence from the text only to support your stance. Use the model journal as your guide (given below). You must quote three times from the literary work you are writing about.
USE at least one of the following literary techniques: structure, conflict, voice, style, irony, setting, figurative language (metaphors or similes), imagery, or symbolism
Focus on analyzing the literature—no author biography, no author history, no plot summary.
Formating the answer? Journal essays entries should have a unique title, an introductory paragraph, at least two body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph. In your first paragraph, you should introduce the author and the title of the text you’re writing about and then state a clear thesis statement that is an idea of what the author is arguing in writing the text. Body paragraphs must begin with topic sentences that express ideas that you must support with specific examples and at least two quotations from the work of literature . Please use MLA format for parenthetical citations and works cited page. Journal entries must be double-spaced with proper heading and include a works cited page, or you will lose points. Be sure to format your papers using correct MLA format (use a 12-point font):
