How professionals in your field find research.
Discussion: no more than two pages.
It is not enough for researchers to conduct studies and write about them. In order for the research to be useful to others, it must be seen by others. Research therefore must be disseminated. Historically, research took a long time to get disseminated. For example, prior to 2010, results from studies about new medical treatments took up to 17 years to enter medical practice (DeAngelis, 2010). Today, researchers are becoming more innovative and using the Internet to get their research out there and get it read in new ways.
For this week’s discussion, tell us how professionals in your field find research. This could be a professional journal or clearinghouse, or perhaps there is an annual conference where research is shared. If you don’t know the answer, you can ask someone who uses or conducts research in your field, or do some research yourself to find out.
After discussing how and where research is disseminated in your field, answer the following:
How easy is it to locate current research in your field?
Do practitioners in your field read the research or rely on someone else to summarize it in an article more often?
Do you think anything should change about how research is shared in your field?

Discussion 2:
For this week’s discussion, you will need to pick a position about the relative importance of internal and external validity in research. There is no one right answer here! What is important is that you understand the concept of validity in research and are able to discuss its impact on real world decisions and behaviors.
After reading about internal and external validity, which do you think is more important?
Which do you think has a greater impact when the research is used to make decisions in your field?
Include citations and examples to support your position.
