The most important reason to disseminate research is to ensure that the patient is receiving the best possible care and practices that are proven to cause harm are exterminated based on the most current evidence-based recommendations (Kornør, Bergman, Maayan, Soares, & Bjørndal, 2015). There are multiple considerations that should be included when considering disseminating research, some of these considerations are; the availability of the research information and findings, the understanding of the research findings, and knowledge translation (Kornør, Bergman, Maayan, Soares, & Bjørndal, 2015). There is an overwhelming amount of information available on the internet. Information is always available but the reliability and validity of this research can be questionable. Healthcare professionals need to be educated and educate patients on how to locate appropriate information. Understanding research pertains to the ability to discern the information that is being portrayed. “Knowledge translation, defined as the effective and timely incorporation of evidence‐based information into the practices of [health] professionals in such a way as to effect optimal [health] care outcomes and maximize the potential of the [health] system” (Kornør, Bergman, Maayan, Soares, & Bjørndal, 2015. Paragraph 2). The most important reason to disseminate research always goes back to the reason of why we do what we do as healthcare workers, which is to take the best care of our patients.
