Self-Evaluation for Performance Review
Self-Evaluation for Performance Review
Supervisors in the workplace often ask employees for a self-evaluation to help them write up an annual performance review to share with management. In a self-evaluation for a performance review, you are being asked to honestly assess several aspects of how you did your job over the course of the previous year: which new skills have you learned, what have been your strengths and challenges in completing your work really well, how have you interacted with colleagues, supervisors, and with clients, what you would do differently going forward in order to improve outcomes.
Since this is an online course and not a real job, I am asking you to evaluate your own performance this semester as an English 306 Report Writing student as if you were writing a self-evaluation for an actual performance review for your boss.
You should use memo format and address the memo to me (Dr. Meisel or Jacqui Meisel) and have it come from you (your real name followed by a comma and Eng. 306 student); as you know, the subject line is crucial, so phrase it clearly, concisely, and as specifically as you can.
From then on, you’re on your own. Craft the body of the memo to the best of your ability. Remember everything we have been learning about a memo’s clear layout and purpose, audience awareness, good, formal writing, and ethical content. Write your self-evaluation and submit it as your very last assignment for this class.
