Investigative Forensics

Investigative forensic is a scientific approach used to conclude and probe criminal incidents (Black et al., 2017). It involves analysis and gathering of all related criminal tangible evidence to conclude about the suspect. Investigators will take samples from blood, fluid, or fingerprints or different technology establishing criminal offense undertakings. Under investigative, there are various forms of investigative forensics which assist in curbing criminal incidents. These include; forensic auditing, cyber forensics, crime scene forensics, forensics entomology, and so forth. Organizations can face several challenges, ranging from bribery, corruption, third-party disputes, transactions that may break multiple laws and regulations, cyber-attacks, loss of classified records, financial record black holes, and phantom workers on the payroll.

Organizations that face these challenges require the repair of damages, funding for lawsuits, or criminally punishing fraudsters. Other concerns may include cyber incident management, fronting, financial reporting fraud, data theft, intellectual property theft, and much more, in addition to fraud, abuse, and corruption investigations. Organizations need to examine problems such as fraud, coercion, and bribery independently and critically to understand them and measure future damages.

The owner must ensure that proper and timely risk identification is carried out since the owner is the project’s first investor. The sooner threats are known, the sooner preparations to minimize or handle them can be made. Assigning a contractor or an individual member of the project team to the risk assessment process is seldom successful. It may be considered a way to obtain the illusion of risk identification without necessarily doing so.

Senior administrators and boards are under pressure to pursue a structured method to risk and vulnerability comprehension and management (Quon et al., 2012). Four out of five ERM officials plan to play a more active role in defending their business from a cyber threat.
