RESPOND 1 HUBERT (ABRAHAM)
I believe seeing this movie 116 years ago might have some big emotional response from its viewers, considering the first man landing on the moon was in 1969, sixty-eight years after the movie. The questions of what’s on the moon? If there’s life on the moon? And even religious implications. The first home camcorder was released by Sony in 1983. People must have been totally excited and emotionally charged after seeing the movie. Personally I found the movie to be funny, simple, yet interested in that as human we always assume that we are intellectually, physically superior to what ever is out there. Yet most of todays movie holds the same basic values, appealing to the audience sense of superiority, good over evil. Not much has changed in the way today’s blockbuster movies are made.
The other valve I got from the movie is sharing it with my kids. My daughter said, dad that’s not a movie, looks like a bad cartoon with people.” Which prompted me to through my old stuff and having look at my first camcorder, tapes, even a Walkman. I believe the best thing was my dad’s camera with the four flashes.
