COVID-19 is an unprecedented pandemic. While it is easy to focus on the ramifications of the virus on our own lives and those we love, for this assignment think about how the virus may be impacting those from different backgrounds as you. The main purpose of this extra credit assignment is to view the COVID-19 pandemic from the lens of the topics we discussed in class. It is a good idea to apply a model from class to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Use topics we’ve discussed in class to write an essay describing how COVID-19 may be experienced and viewed across different groups of people. Are there any populations that might be particularly stressed by preventative measures for COVID-19? Explain your answers thoroughly, thinking through the various recommendations and their potential ramifications. Make sure to cite at least 2 reputable resources to support your response (in text and with a reference page). Do not forget to consider various sources of stress that may exacerbate an individual’s situation and how social distancing may be a greater departure from normal for some cultures compared to others. How might the virus exacerbate current health disparities? Consider at least 2 different specific populations (e.g. cultures, ethnicities, races, gender, ages, income, education level, etc).
