1. Assess Brooks’ delivery: is it audience-centered; does it include effective eye contact; are his nonverbal cues meaningful and supportive of the the message; does his delivery ever distract from the speech content? You may note other aspects of delivery you believe important to discuss.

2. Assess the structure of Brooks’ speech and evaluate the following: introduction; clarity of main points; transitions; and conclusion. Is the structure clear and helpful to the audience in understanding the content of the speech? What might improve the structure of the speech from your perspective as a CST major?

3. Analyze the speech’s content: use of logos (including evdience and argumentation); use of pathos (emotional appeals to motivate the audience); and the speaker’s ethos (how does Brooks set up his credibity; does he display intelligence; goodwill toward the audience; and honesty?

4. Does Brooks achieve any degree of eloquence based on the standards articulated by Dr. Michael Osborn in his assessment of “I Have a Dream”? Explain why or why not.
