peer response : Jealousy is such a powerful emotion because it causes people to lose control of their emotions. Jealousy leads to other negative emotions such as anger and fear. This can cause people to act without considering the consequences of the actions.

Jealousy causes people to act out of character because they are not rational when they are jealous. They act out of emotion not thought. Because of jealousy people act out of anger and try to get revenge. Two examples of acts of jealousy in Othello are Roderigo and Iago. In Act 1, Roderigo is jealous of Othello because he wants to marry Desdemona. Iago is jealous of Michael Cassio because Othello promoted Cassio to lieutenant instead of him. Both are angry and try to get revenge against Othello. Iago continues to serve Othello as part of his plan for revenge. Roderigo talks bad about Othello to Desdemonas father, Brabantio, as part of his plan for revenge.
