Option 1: Attend a psychology related talk at a local University
An excellent way to learn more deeply about a topic is to attend a research talk. There are numerous psychology related talks at local Universities and they usually do not cost money to attend. Select a talk to attend and then write a
minimum of 550 words total in response to the following questions:
- Which talk did you attend?
- Why did you select this talk and what did you know about the topic before you
- attended the talk?
- What are at least three things you learned from the talk?
- Did the talk inspire you to learn more about the topic? Why or why not?
- How do you think what you learned from the talk could be helpful for you in the future?
Please also provide a list of references used in your paper. See below for a formatting example of a talk. Please submit your answers in the assignment on Canvas by the deadline noted on the syllabus.

Option 2: Write a research paper
Another great way to learn more deeply about a topic is to research the topic and write about what you learned. Select a topic from the textbook that interests you, but one we will not cover in the course. Write a minimum of 550 words total
in response to the following questions:
- An explanation of the topic, including key concepts and terms
- Results of a research study related to the topic
- An application of the topic to an everyday situation
- Why you selected the specific topic
Please also provide a list of references used in your paper. See below for formatting examples of references. Please submit your answers in the assignment on Canvas.
