Create a profile of a centenarian(not mentioned in the Blue Zones) and highlight the particulars of their life and what elements of their longevity were consistent with those of centenarians in the Blue Zones.

  • Students will examine, by example, the life and work of Dr. Denmark and self-select one or two centenarians for whom they will design/create a profile/examination of their life and work.
  • Profile will document aspects of the centenarians life that are consistent and a few that may be inconsistent with Blue Zone concepts (Power of 9s), and other components (including the longevity study) identified within the course. For instance, Dr. Denmark worked until she could no longer walk and stand to do her job.  This is consistent with the idea of no retirement documented in several Blue Zones.   She also never ate sugar which was not mentioned in the Blue Zones, but one might draw conclusions regarding this as they investigate diet in the Blue Zones.
  • Do no forget the longevity study as you design your profile.
  • You can use any format you choose, but a simple report is not advised.  Also visuals and few words work best.
  • This examination will be a thorough account of what you learned about the centenarian. (choose wisely).
