Paper – 200 points (Seminar Course); this paper must be a minimum of 15 pages in length.

A comprehensive written report will be required of all Computer Science interns. This report is due at the time of the final presentation and is worth 200 points towards your Seminar grade. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in points being deducted or the paper and presentation not being accepted. Please begin work on this assignment early.

  • The report should be an example of your professional writing skills and include a Cover Page, Executive Summary, Company Overview, Personal Profile, and Internship Overview, Conclusion, and Works Cited page.
  • You must provide ten citations related to your internship and work experience. These citations must be current. This means all citations cannot be older than three years. You are required to cite using APA style guidelines. All citations must be inline text citations and listed on the Works Cited page following the APA style guidelines.
  • An Executive Summary is a one page summary of your paper. You should effectively overview your whole project in one effective page. This is not an outline.
  • The Company Overview should include a history and mission statement for the company. Provide information regarding the IT structure/strategy that the company employs. Provide a detailed organizational chart (related to your role) should also be included. A minimum of two pages is required for this section.
  • The Personal Profile should give an overview of your experience, education, and skills. Also, provide what your personal goals are for the next two years, five years, and ten years. A minimum of three pages is required for this section.
  • The Internship Overview should describe the major areas for which you were responsible during your internship. It should also reflect what you submitted in your Internship Plan Overview. Discuss whether your expectations and goals were met. Provide examples of your work. This should be the focus of your paper. Divide your description by project or by week and provide at least three visual aids when possible. These visual aids must be properly labeled and citations provided. If the visual aids are on a separate page with no writing, it will not be included in the page count. Also, these citations do not count towards your ten required citations. A minimum of eight pages is required for this section.
  • The Conclusion section should be a final evaluation and thoughts on the experience. It should relate your experience to the Computer Science plan of study. Reflect on your recommendations for the future of the program. A minimum of one page is required for this section.
  • The report should be typed and meet collegiate writing standards. The report must be a minimum of 20 pages in length. Please provide two hard copies of your report at your presentation.
