Details: Executive Summary
In this assignment, you will select a program, quality improvement initiative, or other project from your place of employment. Assume you are presenting this program to the board for approval of funding. Write an executive summary (850-1,000 words) to present to the board, from which they will make their decision to fund your program or project. The summary should include:

- The target population or audience.
- The benefits of the program or project
- The cost or budget justification.
- The basis upon which the program or project will be evaluated.
Share your written proposal with your manager, supervisor or other colleague in a formal leadership position within a health care organization. Request their feedback using the following questions as prompts:

Executive Summary Assignment – Surgical coordinator
Situation: My job site, currently needs a plan to save money from every point of entry. There is uncontrolled cash flow from every surgical admission and needs an accurate data to control budget.
Proposed Solution: I would like to submit to the Board of Nursing a plan to be implemented for a daily screening and monitoring of the planned surgical procedures and authorizations for all surgical procedures to avoid further denials. I am proposing a part time Associate in Nursing position with the estimated salary of $ 60,000 – $75,000 per year.
Steps Involved:
- Data would be collected and screening for authorization from insurance.
- Show employees how to obtain authorizations from Insurances companies.
- Communicate the information to billing department for appropriate reimbursement.
Benefits:
- I would proof the benefits of the proposal plan and project by providing data throughout an excel statistics of the multiple denials from insurances companies.
- Excel data will be collected from a list of planned surgical procedures before the admission occurred.
- Monthly budget data information will be share with the business office for reimbursement.
- Cost savings would result from an appropriate length of stay admission status with the correct authorization for either observation or inpatient status.
- This would evaluate the impact and compliance of all clinical outcomes, including the influence of the poor documentation by surgeon’s checklist components prior surgery.
Potential Obstacles:
- The cost of employing a hospital surgical experienced nurse will be between $60,000 and $75,000 per year.
- The time associated with setting up the employee to be able to work with all the insurance companies and communicating the outcome for potential denials to patients and surgeon’s staff coordinator employee. (approximately 5 hour per day).
- The resistance of surgeons and insurance companies to comply with appropriate admission status and authorizations per cost of procedure.
- The willingness to follow a budget to control cash flow from planned surgical admissions to assure hospital budget.
