You have lived life in a different way since last March, so I am sure you think you already know everything there is to know about the subject of Change!
But what is change and why don’t people like it, even when it eventually makes their lives better or easier? Think of filling up your water bottle at the Elkay machines on campus, and by doing so, helping in a very small way to save the planet. What about your new credit card with a chip in it a few years ago? They were supposed to make your account safer and less susceptible to fraud. And how about your first Uber ride, or signing up for Disney+ or Netflix or the newest version of your phone? Change always is something we need to get used to but usually change give us benefits, improvements or wider options
(1). Think about a specific change in the people, structure or technology of an organization where you have worked. How was this change introduced and how well was it received? Was the change an improvement? Did the organization make efforts to reduce people’s resistance to change? Did it work?
(2). Then, take some time to look through the business press, such as the Wall Street Journal or New York Times, Bloomberg, Forbes, or Fortune, etc. to find an news clip describing some kind of Organizational Change.
