Hidden Gentrification in Norfolk, Virginia: How the city of Norfolk has been hiding gentrification since the civil rights era.

I attached my rubric and newspaper article during the event in which this issue was heavily going on in Norfolk. I also found a link that may help with this topic. Part of the assignment is to relate this issue back to what Martin Luther King said in his famous speech I have a dream. While also arguing the point that Norfolk, VA is gentrifying the area and has been for years now. I attached his speech to this document. The quote I feel that could framed closely to this topic is where he says ” …the negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself in exile in his own land.” Basically relaying back to the fact that no matter where we go in American societies (In this case our own neighborhoods) we are exiled (gentrification).
