Synthesize Emerging Leadership Theories
Strategies of leadership within organizations is diverse. Organizational theorists have identified that that individual, group, and organizational processes are revealed differently across time spans (Dinh, Lord, Gardner, Meuser, Linden & Hu, 2014).
One example of a more recent leadership theory, the upper echelon theory, suggests that individual characteristics influences senior management decisions. Community is all-encompassing in the upper echelon theory. The collective whole that influences the decisions made by individuals also leads to corporate social responsibility (Majdi Anwar, 2015).
Characteristics to describe leaders has subtly changed over time. Traits such as “able to handle pressure” is updated within emotional intelligence definition to be simply “calm under pressure”. Alternatively, new leader characteristics include: empowering, relatable, or culturally competent. New organizational leaders for a diverse workplace must consider new phenomena such as how to apply inclusive leadership (Offerman & Coats, 2018).

Formulate a list of emergent leadership theories that represent behaviors similar to your own leadership philosophy. The first section of your paper will evaluate at least three emergent theories that apply to you personally and to your specific sector of interest (corporate, non-profit, or government). Explain the relevance of these leadership theories to your chosen sector. The second section of your paper will describe a leader in that sector who emulates the traits of your chosen theories.
