Requirements:

1. Your exam response must be formatted as follows:

a. A Microsoft Word document.

b. A cover page that includes the name of the course, the name of your instructor, your name, and the date of your submission.

c. 12 Point Times New Roman font.

d. Double-spaced.

e. Margins 1 inch on top and bottom, and 1.25 inches on left and right.

2. You must cite both in-text and in a separate References page any and every source you use.

a. Your citations must be in APA Publication Manual 6th Edition format.

b. Your paper will be compared against all sources in the Turnitin Database. To the extent you use external references, you must rephrase the source into your own words. Direct quotations and/or “cut and paste” copies will not be acceptable.

c. Your paper must have an Originality Score of less than 25%. Any more than that may result in a 50 point reduction in your grade based on the instructor review of your specific paper. In the event it is evident that any significant portion of your paper has been plagiarized, you will receive a zero on the final exam.

3. You should begin each response section using a bold headline indicating which question you are responding to. Your response should be question by question, with each section complete. In other words, your response should be able to stand on it’s own.

4. If you use the term “as stated before” or any variation of that term in this paper you will receive a zero for the question you are answering and any question you may be referring to.

5. Your responses must be critically thought out and factually supported.

a. Most of these questions could be supported with either a “pro” or a “con” response.

b. Whichever path you choose, you need to provide factual support. How you “feel” or how you personally “think” about something is irrelevant in a professional environment.

c. To the extent you use external resources, you need to insure they are credible.

From the perspective of the Franchisee there are many advantages and several critical disadvantages to the Franchise business model. List and comprehensively discuss 3 advantages and 3 critical disadvantages from the Franchisee perspective.

What are the differences between Franchising and Licensing from a business perspective? Describe a situation in which Licensing may be a more appropriate relationship than Franchising, and why.

The Obama Administrations National Labor Relations Board ruled recently that Franchisors – who are not legally the employer of a Franchisees employees – could be held as employers and forced to collectively bargain with Unions seeking to unionize the Franchise. This ruling – if it stands – may effectively alter the Franchise Business model in the United States and place a strain on hundreds of thousands of small businesses. Describe why this ruling has such major negative consequences.
