Every Individual Carry Different I Want A Reply P

Perceptual distortion is the incorrect understanding or false interpretation about the specific event that may be either in the personal level or professional level. There are two main reasons why perceptual distortion occurs, the first is due to psychological disorder and physical damage. Every individual carry different opinions about the same situation, it’s all about the people perception based on their past experiences. But in the perceptual distortion, knowingly or unknowingly people do mistakes due to the perceptional errors. Perceptual distortions are further classified into four types which include:

Stereotyping: When a perceiver judges a person based on his team characteristics or community without knowing his personal characteristics a behavior this stereotyping distortion occurs. This is the oversimplified attitude of the person where he self-imagined the things with his own perception about the activity. This just an idea about the individual according to the perceivers experience.

Example: Often this scenarios will see in the organizational level when people pass comments on the individual by seeing their group characteristics rather than individual behavior or nature. This perception often gives negative outcomes to the perceiver.

Halo Effects: We see some situations in the organization, if one employee commit errors or mistakes then other people in the organization thinks that the entire team do the same thing and follow the same procedure. Which is completely a cognitive bias, in halo effects it is nothing but an impression that might have been created just for one particular situation not for the complete process.

Example: Just discussed about the team example, in a group if one employee does frequent errors then people started predicting the things like entire team do follows the same situation, but it is not really true.

Selective perception: Selective perception is nothing but the one way thinking of the perceiver, this activity involved only one-sided inputs to judge a person attitude and behavior. Generally, the human being tendency is to judge the person in the first impression itself without knowing much introduction about the person. So, after having couple of interaction this opinion about the individual may change.

Example: In our day to day social life, we meet people often and start imagination by seeing their dressing, way of talking and by gesture etc. But in real we don’t know anything about his background and other details and we started overimagine the things. Which is not necessarily important and sometimes leads to the worthless talks.

Projection: Projecting the activities in advance without knowing the conclusion of the process is called as projection. Without any interpretation, outcomes will be projected based on the current situation. Projecting the business activities in a well manner always plays a crucial role in the success of the team. The best way of doing the projection is to take the collective ideas rather than depending on the few resources. But without knowing any proper validation about the outcomes, it is quite difficult to predict.

Example: In the professional level, when managers are conducting the team meetings it is essential to take the inputs from all the employees rather than depending on the only few employees. Collective ideas always gives the best outcomes for the team in the projection rather than going with few ideas.
