Least Six Scholarly References Hsa Group Project
Each group will create and submit a presentation in MS PowerPoint or other presentation software (i.e. Prezi). Although there is flexibility in the software used, the software must be easily accessible to all students at no cost and I must be able to view it without any additional software installation.
This group presentation has two separately graded components:
- The final presentation submitted is worth 30 points and all students in the group will receive the same grade for this presentation. This means that even if one student does not contribute as much as was expected, the presentation still needs to be complete and will be graded based on all the criteria in the assignment instructions. Exceptions to this rule may be made by lowering an individual student’s grade if the student fails to substantively contribute to the project.
- Each student will receive their own student engagement (group participation) grade worth 20 points which includes feedback from the instructor, the other group members and a self-evaluation using a specific review form.
Where to Start:
In Module 2 you will be randomly assigned to a group. You are expected to designate a group leader, complete a Group Project Charter, and communicate with your group members weekly to create a Group Presentation together on the topic of quality of care that addresses specific questions listed in the instructions. There will be a Discussion area set-up in the Team Project Module specifically for you and your group members to communicate and share files privately.
- Use the private group discussion forum to contact your teammates and start planning the tasks needed to complete the project.
- For the student engagement part of the grade, I will be looking for ongoing communication in these forums each week rather than just dividing up the work and coming back together just before the paper is due. For example, the assignment elements have a variety of answers, some better than others. Do some research, think critically about them and share ideas before starting to write.
- I am also able to set up chat rooms within the course where groups may schedule a specific time to meet and communicate in “real time”. Have one person send me an email requesting this be set up if needed. It is good to save these chats and post them in the private group discussion forum for future reference and so a group member who may not have been able to make the meeting may read what was discussed.
- By the end of week 2, post a discussion thread titled “Project Charter” in your private group discussion forum that includes the Group Project Charter outlining the tasks assigned to each student.
- All team members must post their portion of the project to the team discussion forum no later than Wednesday of Module 6 to allow the group to have time to make final edits without being rushed.
- Your presentation is due Sunday of Module 6.
For your Group 17-21 slide presentation, use at least six scholarly references published within the past three years that support your analysis and at least 4 relevant images. Information should be paraphrased and cited. However, do NOT use quotes in this course. Also, avoid writing in first person (i.e., I, me, my, us, we, our, etc.) because it makes the writing too informal. The final presentation needs to be at 15 slides in length [not including the title slide or references slide(s)]. Consult the HSA Style Guide , and review the HSA Student Assignment Checklist and HSA Group Paper Grading Rubric (30 points).
In your Team Presentation address the following:
- Title slide (not included in slide count)
- Introduction – Define health care quality and the purpose of quality of care initiatives.
- Goal(s) and Objectives for the presentation (one slide)
- Provide at least 2 examples of quality of care issues and quality of care initiatives designed to prevent those issues from reoccurring.
- How might quality of care agree with and conflict with the ethical principles such as autonomy, beneficence, and non-malfeasance?
- What are some of the legal issues related to poor quality of care?
- What are some of health policy issues related to providing quality of care?
- Why is poor quality of care more expensive?
- Summary
- References (not included in slide count)
Submitting the Group Presentation:
1) Only one person, the group leader, will submit the group presentation to the Group Presentation Assignment dropbox.
2) In addition to the presentation, each team member will download and complete his/her own Peer Review Form. EVERY team member will then submit a Peer Review Form to the Team Presentation and Peer Review Dropbox. This is important because the review is part of the grade AND because this is where grades are assigned. If no peer review is submitted, no grade will be given. Additionally, team leaders will submit the paper and their own Peer Review form to the drop box. If two different versions of the Team Presentation are submitted, the first one submitted will be the one graded.
