Course Project: Building Your Early Childhood Program—Part 3: Policies and Procedures
This week, you will continue to build your program by carefully considering policies and procedures you will adopt. Of course, there are myriad policies on which programs must decide and to which they must adhere, but for this assignment you only will focus on a select few.
You also will summarize your interview with the director regarding the health, safety, and nutrition policies at his or her center. The reflection component in your Course Project Assignment will include your thinking as to how policies and procedures contribute to the operation of quality programs. You also will have an opportunity to update Parts 1 and 2 of your Course Project based on information you have gained from interviewing the director about regulations, licensing, and accreditation, policies and procedures, and vision and mission.
To prepare for this assignment, download and complete the “Building Your Early Childhood Program—Part 3: Policies and Procedure” template in this week’s Learning Resources.
Submit your completed “Building Your Early Childhood Program—Part 3: Policies and Procedure” template, including your reflection.

Government Policies

Three of your state’s health policies, three safety policies, and three nutrition policies that early childhood programs must follow, with URL links to these policies
Three federal laws that address needs of individual children, families, and/or employees (and are different from those listed in Week 2), with a URL link for each law and a brief explanation of how each law informs your program policy
Health, Safety, and Nutrition Policies
Summarize in 2–3 paragraphs what you learned from your interview about how the director’s program promotes health, safety, and nutrition, including specific activities.
Based on what you have learned in the course, offer at least three recommendations you would make to the director to improve health, safety, and nutrition policies/activities. Include insights you gained from your interview about health, safety, and nutrition policies and activities to help you ensure the highest standards in your program.
