Sentencing philosophies and models are created by legislatures and imposed by courts. However, it falls to correctional agencies to administer the punishment defined by legislatures and imposed by courts.

In your initial post, discuss the impact that changing sentencing philosophies and models have had on correctional agencies over the past 50 years. As part of your discussion identify at least one sentencing philosophy and/or model that you believe has had the greatest impact on the way correctional agencies administer punishment. As part of your response explain why you believe the selected sentencing philosophy and/or model had the greatest impact on corrections.

In your response post to classmates, evaluate the sentencing philosophy and/or model selected by the classmate. If you agree with the classmate’s view that the sentencing philosophy and/or model had the greatest impact on correctional agencies, expand upon the points made by the classmate to defend this sentencing philosophy and/or model over other options. If you disagree, respectfully defend why you believe an alternative sentencing philosophy and/or model had a larger impact on corrections.

Initial posts must be a minimum of 500 words not counting the repeating of the question or reference list, and incorporate material from at least two (2) cited sources. At least two (2) response posts to peers with a minimum of 250 words are required.
