Yes, the President of Caritas Christi Health Care should be fired. Every sexual harassment complaint should be looked into, and he has already had 10 complaints against him. How many complaints does it take? It’s horrible to think that sexual harassment complaints could be a lie, but that is exactly what people think when they hear an accusation. However, to have multiple complaints isn’t a lie or a coincidence this obviously someone who is a serial offender and needs to be dealt with. This needs to happen most importantly for the victims, but also for the company before all that was built to make a successful company becomes ruined by keeping someone like him employed. Sexual harassment cases are complicated because most of the time it is one person’s word against another with no witnesses. Having no witnesses makes any case hard but especially one with no evidence as well. Once you have someone’s word against another it brings other parties into it, and this can hurt a victim during a case. A lot of times victims pasts and sexual promiscuity get brought into cases and people start to believe because she or he has acted in a certain way before, then they were “asking for it” or wanted the sexual harassment to happen. ” Sexual harassment myths encompass societal beliefs that (1) women invite unwanted sexual behavior, (2) sexual conduct at work is normal, natural, and/or inevitable, and (3) that sexually harassing acts are harmless and pleasurable.” (Page, T.E., Pina A., & Giner-Sorolla, R. 2016). This attitude towards victims should never happen, because no one ever wants or deserves any kind or form of sexual harassment. Consistency is important not only in sexual harassment cases but in everything we do. Consistency shows people that no matter who they are if you do something deserving of a punishment then you should get said punishment. Without consistency, which is what we see presently represented in the justice system and everywhere in our daily lives, show that if you hold a high position, have large amounts of money or connections you are somehow of more value. No one should ever feel lower than they already feel going through such a traumatic event. ” The two general types of consequences are psychological and economic. For the victim the primary damages are psychological. Emotional harm in the form of depression, anxiety, stress, and loss of job motivation” (Kaushal, S.K., Kaur G., and Kumar R. 2016).
