A. Submit videos of yourself or of another person ( i.e: from YouTube) performing the exercises/activities of the following: (20pts)
- Crunches (Sit-ups)
- Push-ups
- Chin-ups or Pull-ups
- Sweeping or Vacuuming (ie, using a broom or a vacuum cleaner)
B. View the videos for Crunches and Push-ups. In the text, study the tables for Crunches (Table 15-1) and Push-ups (Tables 15-2, 15-3). Note there are TWO phases for the Push-ups. Note how the tables analyze the moves in the exercises you observed in the videos.
C. Next, carefully view the videos for Pull-ups/Chin-ups and Sweeping/Vacuuming.
- Using the tables for the Crunches and Push-ups as examples, construct tables analyzing the movements in these two activities. Note there are TWO phases in each of these activities. You need a table for EACH phase: UP and DOWN for Pull-ups/Chin-ups and PUSH and PULL for Sweeping/Vacuuming. That means FOUR tables total. (see Table headings below. Please list only ONE joint per row in the tables)
- Please identify at least THREE or more joints used in each activity. The joints will use different joint actions and may have different muscle contraction types in the different phases. Gravity (with muscle control) will be the force of movement in the DOWN phases.
- Label each table with the name of the activity and which phase you are analyzing. (80pts: 20pts/phase for Pull-ups/Chin-ups, and 20pts/phase for Sweeping/Vacuuming)
(Note: “Prime Movers” and “Muscles Active” mean the same thing.)
