You have been hired to be the consultant for a fast-food organization with six stores in the local metropolitan area.
The stores are all alike and all have two stations and a drive-up window for ordering food . Each station has an SMART cash register. Each store has an office area that is open style for doing office work and still able to view the entire store and workers. The office area is roughly forty feet from the ordering stations.
You as the consultant, must provide a server for the store office area and access for a manager laptop or tablet and the cash registers. The server is for collection of cash register customer information, collection of employee hours, inventory, raw material ordering, store sales reports and central office promotional mail. The communication solution must talk from the server to the intelligent cash registers for data collection and have access to the central office server for filing information and receiving of promotional material.
The smart cash registers each have a processing unit for accepting orders, passing the order request to the production line and delivering the product to the customer team.
The company is just beginning business in the metro area and you must provide for additional stores that may open in the future and you have a number of store requirement including:
You must have server and workstation specification
You must have spreadsheet access for the manager
You must have word processing access for the manager
You must have email communications to the central office
You must have a strategy for backup of the server for each store and the central office
You must plan for new store openings and current store closings
You must plan for all communications between and within the store and the central office
You must provide for the phone system
Cost is very important and must be controlled yet provide the required services
You are not responsible for the cash register’s or register functionality. The cash register’s will provide a spreadsheet file with all information for sales
The consultant deliverables include:
The consultant’s assumptions and limitations (first part of the proposal)
The consultant proposal explained in paragraph form and a schematic diagram detailing the communications
The operating system for the workstation and server
The cost of all hardware and software required per store
The cost of the communications link for the store
A timeline for putting the system into production
