You may notice in Chapter 22 that there is a increased number of scenes that appear to be completely free of religious iconography.  Whether straightforward portraits or genre scenes, artists in the North were open to secular imagery due to the movement away from the restrictions of the Catholic church and due to a rising middle class that had an interest in (and the capability to) both patronize and purchase works of art.
Perhaps the style changes, too?  Select one image from the chapter to discuss.  Explain how the style might be consistent (or not?) with that started in the 15th century, but the subject matter seems to introduce something new.
