Read Martin Luther King, Jr.’s "Letter from Birmingham Jail." After reading the document, consider the fact that the current Black Lives matter demonstrations may have some peaceful intentions and many have remained peaceful throughout, but those that we have been seeing on television tended to turn violent. For this assignment, what I would like from you is: 1) a brief listing of the reasons why MLK believed that 1963 was the time to hold such marches, and then 2) a paragraph or two in which you provide some analysis, comparing and contrasting those reasons with the reasons behind the current protests.
