In this assignment, students are to choose one of the short stories read during the course and write their own version of the story. In the rewrite, the students are expected to focus on a different literary element or device than the one used by the author in the original story. For example, if the original short story uses a great deal of irony, then the re-write should perhaps focus on theme or symbolism or if the original story is written in the objective point of view, then the re-write could use first person. The purpose of this assignment is to give students a creative way to demonstrate their understanding and mastery of the literary elements. No late work will be accepted.
