Second part 2 DRAFT
¨
Using information from the sources you have collected (articles, books,
and NGA website), you will submit a well-written draft discussing the
portrait you have selected. This draft should come as close as possible
to your finalized draft and must include the following sections:
1) Introduction
2) A very detailed description of your portrait
3) Who painted the portrait and where it was made
4) Who commissioned it and who is the subject
5) What the purpose of the portrait was and what elements of the portrait tell us this
6) Conclusion
Make sure to have an interesting introduction and conclusion. For example, you can discuss where the portrait is located at the National Gallery of Art(NGA
)and why it struck you as interesting, or you can discuss the use of
portraiture in the Renaissance or in the country where your portrait is
from. Your conclusion can discuss modern methods of portraiture, for
example.
Do not forget to CITE ALL THE INFORMATION that
comes from the sources you are using. DO NOT copy word by word from the
materials, instead make sure to discuss the information in YOUR OWN
WORDS. There is a lot of BAD information about Renaissance art floating
around in the internet, so AVOID going online to find out information
about your subject. In most cases using this information results in
poorly written papers and low grades. Include a Bibliography of
your sources in the last page (not included in page count). The Draft
should be 6- 7 pages long Without the cover page and reference page,
have 1 inch margins, use 11-12 pt size font.
