n my experience HR professionals have been viewed as policy pushers or behind the scenes personnel who conduct interviews, process new-hire paperwork, and perform support task.HR professionals face barriers when trying to align themselves as businesses partners if they don’t step up and take risks (Muse, 2019).To be respected one must be confident in themselves and the ideas he/she puts out to leadership and can handle constructive feedback. HR professionals may face pushback from managers with whom they have experienced negatives encounters with and now they are trying to show a supportive role. In my experience HR personnel has made people uncomfortable because they are there for either hiring, training, or to reprimand individuals.

If the HR professional wants to be considered a business partner, he/she must be educated in the organization. A successful HR professional knows the language the organization uses and can make suggestions to management with a plan in place (Muse, 2019).By understanding the business, the HR professional will feel capable of providing accurate staffing and budgeting recommendations to upper management. A qualified person for the job will help develop proper screening techniques that can used to determine what type of candidate will fits the needs of their organization. The roles of strategic HR professionals must be multifaceted to be considered as business leaders because they still wear the hats of HR.

HR professionals who earn a “place at the table” can drive change within the organization. When HR is viewed as a strategic business partner the vision and mission of the company will be properly translated to all employees because he/she is working with upper management (Newell, 2017). This allows for a clear line of communication amongst the organization. This allows for HR to guide management in the processes of hiring, training, and future practices/procedures that are needed for their largest investment- human capital.
