Select ONE of the following laws to examine for your Critical Assignment:

ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENTS:
A. Provide an overview of the law including:
- the history behind and debate leading to adoption,
- major provisions of law,
- policy arguments both pro and con regarding the law.
B. Examine public policy trends related to your selected law. Your examination should include discussion of:
- Is there continued debate today from interest groups/law makers and courts regarding this law?
- Are there reform efforts? For example: In the area of Americans with Disabilities Act, are there efforts to limit lawsuits against organizations/business by disabled employees or are courts/ law makers working to expand protections?
- Future of this law: Where is the law headed? What are future implications in light of our changing society.
C. Faith integration: are there clear Biblical principals in play?
- Is there alignment or contradiction between the law and Christian principles?
- Do your personal values align with or contradict with the law?
- How do your personal values and beliefs inform your interpretation and analysis of the law?
RESEARCH PAPER REQUIREMENTS: The Research Paper shall not exceed five (5) pages in length. BE AWARE, it is far more difficult to write a quality paper that is shorter in length. To help achieve the highest grade possible, before writing your paper, please assure that you have (1) carefully researched the issue to be studied (at least 5 scholarly or academic resources should be consulted, considering both sides of the issue identified); (2) carefully analyzed the pertinent issue; (3) removed any excess or unneeded verbiage; (4) proofread the paper for proper grammatical structure; and (5) clearly, articulately, and concisely addressed the issue raised (this will require considerable time and thought on each student’s part). The Research Paper will emphasize CRITICAL THINKING, and will require incorporating into the analysis of the issue identified the various concepts discussed in class, in outside readings, and in the textbook. Use APA format. Don’t forget to use headings within your paper to explicitly identify key assignment requirements. (CSO 1.1, 1.22.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 4.2). 250 points.
